Course information:
This course teaches the basic skills needed to create simple yet powerful images through the centuries old process of relief lino printing. Linoleum or lino is a fairly modern material used extensively by artists and printmakers. Its relative softness can be cut, carved and marked with an unlimited variety of tools and objects, creating beautiful results.

What techniques will we cover?
You will learn how to prepare a lino block, transfer the image and use cutting tools safely and effectively to carve and mark the surface. Furthermore, you will learn how to register multiple colour blocks, ink the lino and operate our large press.

By the end of this course you should be able to:
• Use and keep sharp a variety of tools and materials needed to create relief prints
• Effectively produced an edition of simple multicolour lino prints
• Have the skills needed to further explore the art of relief printmaking on a personal level

Due to the messiness of printmaking, students are advised to wear old clothes. This course is suitable for people with little to no experience in printmaking.
